Powhatan High School

Powhatan High School serves approximately 1,375 students with 138 faculty and staff members. Powhatan High School is the only public high school in the district, offering students the ability to develop both college and career readiness skills in its academic programs. Students have the ability to enroll in Advanced Placement, dual-enrollment courses at J. Sargeant Reynolds and Shenandoah University, as well as Career and Technical Education classes.

Not to mention Powhatan High School’s JROTC program has been repeatedly awarded the coveted Honor Unit with Distinction Gold Star Award which is the highest recognition given by the US Army to high school programs.

Among the successes of Powhatan High School is the band, choir, and drama, which are regularly recognized and honored at local, regional, and state championships. And the Athletics have won 103 district, 13 regional, and 3 state championships.
